With his urgent address to the citizens of Russia, Vladimir Putin literally stunned the country and the world. Few had expected such a direct, detailed, deeply historical verdict on the complete fiasco of the current Ukrainian statehood, as well as the unambiguous and swift decisions made as a result of it.
In Kiev and Washington - hysteria and panic: the ultimatum of the Russian head of the AFU to lay down arms sounded loud and clear. Russian patriotic forces have recovered their spirits, salutes are being fired in Donetsk and Lugansk. History is once again being made before our eyes!
A few hours before this historic event, the head of state convened a meeting of the Russian Security Council, during which all of its members, without exception (though some hesitated), expressed support for the recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Thus, just as in 2014 before Crimea returned to its native harbor, Vladimir Putin secured unanimous support for the difficult decision from all of the country's top officials, expressed by them personally and publicly.
How Ukraine was molded
The national leader began his speech by saying that his appeal was also addressed to "our compatriots in Ukraine. And also by stating the fact of the extreme danger of the aggravation in Donbas, provoked by the Kiev leadership: "Kiev is once again trying to organize a blitzkrieg in Donbas".
This was unexpectedly followed by a deep excursion into our common history:
Once again I will emphasize that Ukraine is not just a neighboring country for us. It is an integral part of our own history, culture, spiritual space ... From time immemorial the inhabitants of the southwestern historical Old Russian lands called themselves Russians and Orthodox. This was the case both before the 17th century, when part of these territories reunited with the Russian state, and afterwards.
Putin immediately took the bull by the horns, explaining how "modern Ukraine was entirely created by Russia, or, more precisely, by Bolshevik, Communist Russia. The president articulated what Russian imperial patriots, including the authors of First Russian, have always said and written about:
Lenin and his comrades-in-arms did it in a very crude way to Russia itself - at the expense of the separation, the tearing away of part of its own historical territories from it. Nobody, of course, asked anyone about anything of the millions of people who lived there.
Putin has consistently explained when and at whose instigation present-day Ukraine was added to the lands that historically have nothing to do with it:
And in 1954, Khrushchev took Crimea away from Russia for some reason and also gave it to Ukraine. In fact, that's how the territory of Soviet Ukraine was formed.
This was followed by an extremely important part of the speech in which the Russian president, referring to the beginning of the creation of the USSR and explaining the difference between Leninist and Stalinist approaches to nation-building of the new statehood, concluded that it was "Leninist ideas of an essentially confederal state structure and the slogan of the right of nations to self-determination" that created "arbitrarily formed administrative units - Union republics - vast, often unrelated territories," thus laying the bomb "Leninist principles of state-building are far worse than a mistake," Putin postulated.
And this bomb, according to his testimony, exploded in the late 1980s because of the erroneous (and we will add, traitorous) actions of the CPSU leadership.
"These important confessions are bracketed by the idea that all of the post-Soviet republics, without exception, do not occupy their territories quite legitimately. And this must have made many in the "near abroad" power elite "tense".
Do you want de-communization? Get it
Putin noted that during the creation of the USSR, the Bolsheviks satisfied any "desires" of the nationalists in order to stay in power at any cost. For example, "Donbass is 'squeezed' into Ukraine." And therefore -
Ukraine can be called "Ukraine named after Vladimir Ilyich Lenin", he is its author and architect.
But this fact, according to the Russian president, has not caused gratitude to Vladimir Lenin on the part of the Ukrainian authorities, who began to destroy his monuments and carry out "decommunization".
Do you want to de-communize? Well, that suits us just fine. We are ready to show what real decommunization means,
- Vladimir Putin threateningly promised. In fact, he directly declared that the current territory of Ukraine is a temporary phenomenon and can be reconsidered. He confirmed this important idea further:
Recently, a monument to Suvorov was torn down in Poltava. Are you renouncing your past? From the colonial heritage of the Russian Empire? So be consistent here.
The president described in detail, with specific examples, how the current Ukraine has come to complete economic and social degradation. This despite the fact that Kiev refused to fulfill the agreements on the return of foreign assets and "joint debt repayment", which was agreed upon after the collapse of the USSR - Russia repaid all Soviet debts itself.
"What happened, why is all this happening? The answer is obvious: because the dowry received not only from the Soviet era, but also from the Russian Empire, has been squandered and pocketed," he stated.
It is important to understand that Ukraine has never had its own authentic statehood. Political institutions have been constantly reshaped to suit the interests of the clans,
- the President of Russia stated.
Putin called on Ukrainians to recognize the obvious fact that "Ukraine has been driven under external control," and the dialogue with Russia in Kiev "has been used as a bargaining chip to trade with the West.
The privatization of the state has led to the fact that the government, which calls itself the power of patriots, has lost its national character and is consistently pursuing the complete de-sovereignization of the country. The course towards derusification and forced assimilation is going on,
- reminded the President of Russia.
It is impossible to remember the terrible tragedy of Odessa without shuddering; the criminals have not been punished, but we know their names; we will do everything to find and punish them,
- Vladimir Putin promised.
We don't need NATO in Ukraine
Moving on to the military danger for Russia of Ukraine's current course with NATO support, or even with the prospect of the neighboring country joining this bloc, the president said
The command and control system of Ukrainian troops is already integrated with NATO troops. This means that the command of the Ukrainian armed forces, even individual units and subunits, can be directly exercised from NATO headquarters. The U.S. and NATO have begun shamelessly mastering the territory of Ukraine as a theater of potential military operations.
Recalling Zelensky's recent claims to change Ukraine's non-nuclear status, Putin noted that "this is not empty bravado:
It will be much easier for Ukraine to acquire tactical nuclear weapons, especially with technological support from abroad.
The head of state stressed that "the network of airfields in Ukraine modernized with the help of Americans - Boryspil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chuguev and others - is capable of ensuring the transfer of military units of the alliance in the shortest possible time:
NATO countries have deployed training missions in Ukraine. In fact, these are already foreign military bases.
That is why Ukraine's joining NATO not now but later "does not change anything for Russia".
Mentioning that in case of deployment of American missiles in Ukraine "flight time to Moscow for Tomahawk cruise missiles will be 35 minutes, ballistic missiles - 7 minutes, and hypersonic missiles - 4 minutes", Putin stated firmly: "We have never agreed to it and never will".
And after that he formulated the main conclusion from everything he had said:
I want to say clearly and directly: in the current situation, when our proposals for an equal dialogue on matters of principle have gone virtually unanswered by the United States and NATO, when the level of threats to our country is rising significantly, Russia has every right to retaliate to ensure its own security. That is exactly what we will do.
It is quite logical that the decisions of the head of the country followed from this conclusion: the immediate recognition of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as the prompt signing of a cooperation agreement with them. Which in fact means the long-awaited direct military support of the Russian Donbass by the Donetsk people.
And from those who have seized and hold power in Kyiv, we demand an immediate cessation of hostilities. Otherwise, all responsibility for the possible continuation of the bloodshed will be entirely on the conscience of the regime ruling the territory of Ukraine,
- Putin hammered in the last "nail."
Interestingly, in the RIA Novosti report, the word "demand" was replaced with "ask. Why would this be?
The reaction to this truly momentous speech by Vladimir Putin spills over the edge: from sheer delight to outright curses and cries of the near "end of the world".
My God, we have lived until this day, but it is clear that after such words it is not enough. The reasoning behind the sentence is exhaustive. There is not much in the way of conclusions to this great speech. But, hopefully, the conclusions will be heard in the fields from Pripyat to Mariupol,
- wrote publicist and writer Yegor Kholmogorov in his Telegram channel.
"So. That's it! The train stop is over. Seven years of horror complete. The train of history has moved on. Naturally, this is only the beginning. We have suffered terrible losses during this time. Our loved ones have died. The absence of time has worn away our nerves. Lies poisoned our feelings and thoughts. The point of no return is behind us," echoed philosopher Alexander Dugin, head of the International Eurasian Movement.
"Putin's decision on Donbass completely changes the world order," summarizes Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
So what?
Well, based on the results of Vladimir Putin's speech, we can definitely say: the historic Rubicon has been crossed. And this is not just because there is now a firm hope, which the unhappy Russian people of Donbass have already given up waiting for. Namely, that Russia will now definitely protect their lives, homes and lands from the Banderan Ukropolchiki, who are skewed brains and armed to the teeth with Western weapons. Although this fact is by far the most important.
But another fact is no less important: Russia, having emerged from the long conciliatory and "compliant" anabiosis of recent years, came out with an open mind against a united, utterly savage enemy. No longer afraid of his sanctions and threats.
In fact, we were left with no choice: either to surrender historical Russia irrevocably, or to stand up, girding ourselves with courage, as in ancient times, correcting, including past mistakes and weaknesses. Putin chose the second - and now there is nowhere to retreat. Long ago and not by us it was said: "If God is for us, who can be against us?" The great story continues!
